Chaos in Makerere as Lumumba and Mitchell go for war in the wee hours of the morning.

Mitchell hall residents were awoken by the deafening sounds of war drums and chaos. The eerie ambiance of horror, skin and bones cracking, bottles and glasses breaking as The Lumumba GGB (Gongom Guard Brigade) invaded their territory. These violent events occurred last Sunday morning as Lumumba students marched to Mitchell hall in what was supposed to be their occasional weekend jogging activity around the university but instead later turning into a standoff between them and the Mitchellites in Makerere’s capital city. The rebellion was sparked off when an angry Mitchell resident who couldn’t bear the annoying wailing sounds of the Lumumbist chants, slogans and anthems in the wee hours of the morning hurled a beer bottle at the Lumumba crowd who by then were camped outside the hall and unfortunately disturbing his sleep. The Lumumbists responded with fire by arming themselves with sticks and stones in preparation for war which they in turn threw at the Mitchell hall residence as they broke a number of windows and caused a lot of damage to Mitchell property. The angry Mitchell residents in retaliation burst out of their rooms with various objects including iron bars and percolators to burn their fellow Lumumba compatriots who had violently woken them up from slumber. The Mitchelites stunned the Lumumbists as the angry Mitchell residents swung and fired beer bottles from their rooms at the Lumumba crowd. Destruction and terror loomed over Mitchell as the standoff lasted for about half an hour with both sides spilling blood and nursing injuries from the stray stones being fired from all corners. The lumumbists tried to put up a challenge but the overwhelming numbers of the mitchellites pushed and backtracked them all the way back to gongom’s territory Lumumba. The Lumumbists on their heels sought refuge and were rescued by Lumumba enforcements who emerged from the marrystewart hedges with iron bars and stones clutched within their palms. The enforcements ambushed some Mitchell front liners and gave them a taste of their own medicine. Both sides were inflicted with casualties and deadly injuries including Katana one of the Mitchell Generals who received a blow to the head resulting from the merciless beating and clobbering from their violent foes and Wanyera The Lumumba presidential candidate who also sustained some injuries. Police then intervened and managed to restore calm after the long running battles that occurred in Makerere that morning.

The two halls have been at loggerheads since the infamous incident about a year ago when Lumumba captured Mitchell’s treasured statue the rat and kept it under siege in Lumumba for two days. The Mitchelites then devised a quick plan in the midst of the night to rescue the rat and return it to their safe haven in Mitchell. The mitchelites managed to succeed with their plan but succumbed to a number of bruises from the sticks and stone that were thrown at them .The few brave souls that managed to make it back unscathed ran back to Mitchell and secured their treasured statue.
