The electoral commission at Makerere University Business School has called off all political campaigns at the school campus that were being carried out by political aspirants while canvassing for votes.
The body headed by Hon Pellegrin Oketcho drafted a letter to all the aspirants calling off all these campaigns that were already underway at the campus premises
‘In accordance to the rules and regulations 2006 Chapter 4 ‘Electoral Commission will from time to time inform in writing and publish the guidelines to steer the electoral process’. And the Guild constitution 2013-chapter 6 Article 75 2 ‘Electoral Commission shall be responsible for supervising all the Guild elections in the school.’ the statement partly read.
This is partly to keep order at the university and observe the covid 19 guidelines that prohibit the gathering of many people in one place.
The directive took effect from Sunday 14th March to Wednesday 17th March 2021 and anyone found a culprit breaking this law is will be penalized by the electoral body.
