Bobi Wine was illegally admitted to Makerere University-Male Mabirizi

NUP leader Hon. Bobiwine

After City lawyer Male Mabirizi accused Bobi wine of lying about his age last year prior to the presidential nominations, the NUP principal came out to quash all this as propaganda meant to tarnish and derail his presidential bid that was at it’s epitome at the time of the saga.

Mabirizi went ahead to cite the irregularities concerning the out going Kyadondo East legislator’s age indicating that he might have been born in 1980 and not 1982 as his official documents showed.

According to the ghetto gladiator, this was just a storm in the sea that would soon calm down and it did, but to the controversial lawyer Mabirizi, this wasn’t the case and he wasn’t yet about to give up on the singer turned politician’s irregularities concerning his age.

Mabirizi who also has a number of cases such as taking Kenya to court for boycotting Ugandan food products, petitioning the High court to take over Kyagulanyi’s election malpractice case has finally gotten a reason to smile after Makerere University heeded by his petition and released Bobiwine’s academic documents to him.

Mabirizi who had always insisted dishonesty on the side of the legislator could have found a loophole to bring down the legislator and former presidential aspirant. In the documents released by the University’s academic registrar Alfred Masikye Namoah, they indicate that Bobiwine who sat for the Mature Age Entry Scheme was around 20 years in 1999/2000 yet the required age was 25.

According to another part of the documents Kyagulanyi who studied from Kololo Secondary school and Kitante Hill school was admitted illegally at the University because he had not yet finished formal education prior to the admission as required by the University admission guidelines.

‘The Mature Age Entry Scheme states that candidates who are at least 25 years old and who completed formal education at least five years previous to the year of admission, may apply to sit the mature age examinations. Formal education excludes training at post-secondary institutions. It is defined as Primary and Secondary education. Those who are successful, in both the written and the oral examination are then considered for admission,” the documents read in part.

The documents show that the ‘Bada’ singer who sat the exams on March 3rd 2000 at the age of 20 years having been born in 1980 was not eligible for the admission. When his ‘claimed’ birth date of 1982 is taken into context, it shows that he was 18 years by then something that would also cast him out of those eligible for the admissions.

Mabirizi has now said he’s bent on pressurising the University to recall the MDD diploma awarded to the singer who is now a law student at Cavendish university since he was admitted illegally.

We are yet to see how the the Fire base crew leader will deal with this new twist in his political and academic affairs since he’s still busy in the ‘struggle’ to liberate the country and ‘remove a dictator’.
