MUK strong bull pulls out of tightly contested guild race

Obed Obedgiu Derrick one of the most prominent figures in the forthcoming guild elections at Makerere University has pulled out of the race leaving his supporters heartbroken without even providing a clear reason.

Obed who was the flag bearer of the UYD/people power alliance via his Facebook page made it clear in a much rather brief explanation that he wasn’t going to stand for the post as earlier planned and thanked everyone that had supported him to where he had reached.

Now sources coming out of the university students claim that he pulled out of the race for the good of the people power wing in order to create room for outgoing MUK vice guild president and fellow people power candidate Judith Nalukwago.

Obed who has been renowned for being one of the hot headed students that has vehemently opposed policies disfavoring students is mostly remembered for participating in the 15% tuition increment policy that got a number of students suspended him inclusive though they were later recalled due to massive pressure from different stakeholders.

He is said to have invested heavily in his guild campaigns and was prepared for the biggest student office at the university even before covid hit in leading to closure of public institutions.

He was described as a student that cared for the welfare of other students and one that they could easily rely on to an extent of branding him the ‘strike machine’.
