KIU student named Miss Tourism Uganda for Eastern Region

Peace Chebet Mutai a fourth year law student at Kampala International University has been named the Miss Tourism for Eastern Uganda.

Chebet a 24 year old edged a number of beauty contestants to get the honor bestowed upon her.

Nali Josephine and Nandutu Specioza were the first and second runners up respectively.

The event took place in Mbale city at Kakungulu Safari Lodge over the weekend.

The pageant is organised by the Uganda Tourism Board (UTB) in close conjunction with the Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA).

The Bukwo district born promised a number of projects that will help to uplift the girl child in the country plus promoting tourism in the Eastern region.

“I will use this opportunity to promote tourism in the Eastern region and the rich cultural endowment of Uganda through fashion, music, food and other cultural attributes.” Chebet said.

She also went ahead to say that she’s going to use her role to promote the well-being of her fellow university students.

These will include character education, communication skills, physical health, self discipline among other attributes.

She also thanked the KIU fraternity for making this dream of hers achievable.

“I thank my people at KIU for hugely supporting me especially my fellow members in Rotaract club of Kampala International University who voted for me and mobilized my other people to vote for me.” Chebet added.

KIU also congratulated her through a statement on their website.
