MUBS online examinations extended due to system crash

The online examinations for Makerere Business School (MUBS) have been postponed due to the sudden crash of the E-Learning system.

These examinations that were taking place at the campus started on September 27th and were expected to end on October 9th 2021.

Eldred Kyomuhangi Mayindo the Academic registrar stated that they were forced to postpone some papers due to the system failing to handle the large number of submissions.

This crash affected papers that were scheduled to be done on 30th September, October 1st, 2nd and 3rd respectively. However, these exams will be sat from October 13th to 16th.

On Thursday, the MUBS E-Learning center referred students to the heads of departments and deans to solve the issues surrounding the late submission of exams.

A circular issued by the E-Learning center indicates that the examinations that emails that will be submitted to the private staff addresses like emails will not be marked by lecturers.

“Don’t submit your examinations to any private staff email.  Your exams will not be considered. Seek advice from your heads of departments or deans of faculty on how to proceed,” the circular reads.

MUBS has not held examinations since the second lockdown that was announced in June. The system broke down and the website was put under maintenance ahead of the awaited examinations. This however has not been the first technical problem that has been experienced by MUBS since the institutions faced the same issue at the start of online classes.
