Booze Banned From Upcoming Makerere University Mitchellex Fresher’s Bazaar

The Mitchellex Freshers’ Bazaar which is the biggest expo at Makerere University is back. It will be running from 29th January to 5th February 2022.

This Bazaar which is held at the start of every academic year at Mitchell Hall targets availing affordable services and products at affordable prices to campusers especially freshers.

The Bazaar came to a halt in 2020 due to the outbreak of the COVID 19 pandemic but its back this year bigger and better.

The acting deputy vice chancellor Prof Henry Alinaitwe in a letter dated 21st January 2022 addressed to Mr James Adupa the chairman of Mitchell Hall okayed the Bazaar to go ahead.

There are however conditions that have to be fulfilled by the attendants.

These include observing the COVID 19 SOPS. All activities in the Bazaar are expected to close by 5pm unlike previous years when it would go on to the wee hours of the night.

Besides no one will be allowed/expected to take alcohol to the venue.

The MUK entrants of 2020/21 will also be hoping to have a glimpse of the Bazaar as they never experienced one themselves due to the outbreak of the pandemic.

It’s however waited to see if the students will indeed follow the time given of closure of 5pm.
