The Mukono High Court has finally convicted Matthew Kirabo for the murder of his girlfriend Desire Mirembe. This was presided by Judge Henry Kaweesa.
However, Matthew is on the run after being granted bail by an earlier trial judge. Kirabo Matthew, the medical doctor of Mulago Hospital, murdered Desire while he was still a student of Makerere University in 2015 after the couple reportedly conflicted in their love affair.
Previously, the lead assessor to the case, Robert Sseguya, had urged court todo all in its capacity to find Mr. Kirabo guilty for the heinous crime since all evidence pointed towards him.
“There is conclusive evidence to show that Kirabo killed Desire Mirembe, this is why he ran into hiding,” Sseguya argued.
There was evidence presented by the accessors found showing Kirabo in a video consenting to the murder in a statement he gave to police before his bail in 2016.
The judge Henry Kaweesa had set May 30, 2022 as the day he was going to give the final verdict where he found Kirabo guilty.
The case has attracted a number of activists who are determined to attain justice following several hearings that have yielded little. Hoping that they find the culprit and be put behind bars for the justice of Desire Mirembe.
