\u2018Why should I cushion Uganda\u2019s leaders, yet they neglect Ugandans? Why should I pad Janet Kataaha Museveni, yet she justified to parliament the lies about our government lacking money to provide sanitary pads to poor Ugandan girls \u2013 although her husband manipulated voters during his presidential campaigns with empty promises of the same pads? Why should I praise Uganda\u2019s rapists, oppressors, thieves, bullies, despots, misogynists, dictators, land grabbers, spin doctors, praise singers of a rotten roguish regime? Why should I conceal the rot in our public institutions, and the thick pus that freely oozes from the soul of our beloved country?\u2019<\/p>\n

Meanwhile Nyanzi posted on twitter that she is collecting money to give sanitary pads for girls in school and activists joined the campaign under the hash tag #PadsForUganda.<\/p>\n

A campaign to raise money for the sanitary pads started on the crowd funding site gofundme.com had raised USD1000 in hours out of a target of USD 10,000.<\/p>\n

Stella Nyanzi Survives Detention.<\/p>\n

Nyanzi was on tuesday detained for six long hours at the Criminal Intelligence and Investigations Directorate (CIID) in Kibuli, where she was grilled for several hours about the Sanitary Pads matter.<\/p>\n

Dr. Nyanzi was arrested following summons by the CIID over allegations that she attacked the person of First Lady Janet Museveni in a missive she published on social media recently.<\/p>\n

In her missive, Nyanzi allegedly lambasted the First Lady and government over failure to provide young girls in schools with sanitary pads, so as to stop them from being embarrassed by menstruation cycles.<\/p>\n

However, Nyanzi\u2019s concerns about Sanitary pads and her jibes at Mama Janet displeased government, hence her summons. She was interrogated and cautioned.<\/p>\n

It should be noted that President Yoweri Museveni and Janet Kataha Museveni hinged his presidential campaign on providing Sanitary pads to all school girls in Uganda. But Mrs. Museveni recently told the parliamentary committee on education that funding for the purchase of sanitary towels was not available.<\/p>\n
